4. Cleaning Chemicals
It’s not always makeup alone that’s behind the cause of recurring eye styes; sometimes it’s also because of the chemicals used to clean them off – or the soap that you use to clean your face. There are also many different types of “acne-removal” products that can do much more harm to sensitive skin than good.
In this case, it’s most likely cross-contamination from touching something else, touching the container, and then touching your face – it could also be from keeping products around for too long until they start to become a breeding ground for all sorts of nasties.
You should also replace any sponges, cloths, and towels that you use for cleaning your face and body if you have recurring eye styes, or have recently had one. This can help you to ensure that the infection doesn’t come back on you again.
