5. Dehydration
Dehydration means that the body has lost too much fluid – and in the case of stomach flu, this symptom usually happens through diarrhea and vomiting associated with it. By the point your body starts showing the signs of dehydration, you should know that you are already severely dehydrated – and will need to make a conscious effort to replenish the fluids and minerals your body is losing.
Make sure that you are drinking plenty of fluids when you are recovering from a bout of stomach flu to prevent dehydration. Water is usually the safest option, and you want to avoid things like acidic fruit juice, bubbly drinks, or anything that might do damage if it were to come back up.
There are also medications available that can speed up the process – including sachets, usually dissolvable in water, that will ensure you get all of the needed salts and electrolytes. These can be expensive, but they’re exceptionally useful and could prove to be a lifesaver.
