3. Justification of Alcohol
An alcoholic will justify their consumption of alcohol to the point of complete mania, and there are literally too many excuses to list here – though we can go over some of the most common ones. Most alcoholics will tell you that how much they drink is their business; some will tell you that they didn’t know anyone was counting. Others will tell you that it’s not up to someone else how much they drink – and that’s a sure-fire way to know that the alcohol doesn’t want your help or admit they have a problem.
Alcoholics are also prone to justify the type of alcohol they are drinking and will make up a range of excuses as to why they promise they will behave better when they drink whiskey instead of beer. Excuses like these should be seen for what they are: Nothing more than excuses, and the alcoholic still needs an intervention.
