14 Symptoms of Gonorrhea

December 2, 2019 | New Articles: Conditions

Gonorrhea is one of the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted diseases, and it’s far more prevalent than you might think it is.  Thousands of cases are diagnosed every year, and if you experience any pain in the groin or a discharge from the genitals, it’s likely that it’s an STD.

If you have had unprotected sex and show any of the symptoms on this list, contact anyone you have had sex with and make an appointment with your doctor for the proper tests and the right treatment.

Some of the symptoms of gonorrhea can include pain while urinating, staining in the underwear and a characteristic discharge. All of these symptoms can be both embarrassing and terrifying, but all of them can be fixed with the right course of antibiotics after you’ve contracted the condition.

Symptoms usually start to show up a few days to weeks after you’ve been exposed to it.

Here are 14 symptoms of Gonorrhea that you should know about.

1. A Characteristic Smelling Discharge

One of the first signs of a sexually transmitted disease usually shows up in the form of an unpleasant discharge. It’s the first symptom that tells you that there’s something wrong, and it’s the first symptom that means you should make an appointment with your doctor or visit a clinic to find out why it’s happening.

It’s rare for an unpleasant smelling discharge from the genitals to be due to a hygiene problem: And there’s no need for people to think they might be “dirty” for having developed this issue or this symptom.

In most cases, a characteristic smelling discharge is a sign of an STD and the best and only thing you can do is to make an appointment with a doctor. It can be treated once it’s been properly diagnosed, and it usually will only take a simple course of antibiotics to make it happen.
