If you have been involved in a car accident, you may have been injured by whiplash. Whiplash is what happens when the car suddenly stops, and the body continues to be moved forward before being stopped by a seatbelt and pulled back suddenly.
The sudden jerking motion can cause the neck, back, and shoulders to become out of alignment, which can result in serious shoulder pain. Whiplash can go away on its own, but it can cause soreness and muscle tenderness for several days or even weeks. Some people do seem medical attention for whiplash and shoulder pain.
A chiropractor can realign the neck and back which may help relieve some of the shoulder pain. Medications are also available to help relieve the pain until the muscles can heal and the shoulder pain can subside. Whiplash is usually sustained in car accidents, but it can be caused by other things such as rollercoaster rides, falls, and other types of injuries.
