2. Anxiety
A high rate metabolism induced by excess of thyroid hormones can mimmick some psychological symptoms associated with psychiatric conditions such as anxiety disorders or mood swing disorders such as bipolar disorder.
It is important for your psychologist or psychiatrist to prescribe a dosage of your blood level of thyroid hormones if you have symptoms similar to anxiety, especially if other possible symptoms of hyperthyroidism are also detected. Higher metabolism can make your thoughts go faster and your emotional processing get a bit out of control. It isn’t uncommon that people with high thyroid hormone levels feel restless, nervous or uneasy.
They move a lot, walk around and seem hyperactive. Irritability is also a common manifestation of this condition, speech can be loud and fast, and eyes seem to pop out of their sockets. Anxiety like symptoms are also very common, including thoughts of fear, paranoia and excessive attention.
